Bakers have a few tricks to bump up the flavor of their desserts.
They may add an extra splash of vanilla, a sprinkle of sea salt, even a shot of bourbon. That’s right, one of the biggest trends in baking is to add a shot (or more) of booze to a recipe. It adds serious flavor and fun!
Cocktail desserts are so popular that we included Boozy Baking in the Betty 10: Red Hot Holiday Trends, a list of the top food trends and recipes that will be hot this holiday season.
To celebrate the Boozy Baking trend we created a recipe for Boozy Bourbon Chocolate Cupcakes. In the Betty Crocker Kitchens we affectionately refer to these cupcakes as “holiday helpers” (for the over 21 crowd, of course).
These cocktail cupcakes are triple spiked! They’re a bourbon chocolate cupcake filled with ganache and topped with vanilla-vodka spiked frosting. A drizzle of coffee liqueur adds the finishing touch. Check out the video above to see how they’re put together.
Chocolate, booze and frosting in one delicious dessert? Now that deserves a toast!
