Easy Holiday Recipes for Chex Mix
Every year, my family has a holiday gathering where all of our big family gathers to eat, talk and watch the kids play. We don’t carol – singing isn’t really our thing. We don’t decorate – the halls are already decked. But we spend time together … and really, that’s what matters.
This year, the party will be all homegrown – and I’ll be doing the desserts. At first, I thought of doing one big dessert – a fabulous cake or a delicious crumble. But then I realized that with the amount of people we’ll have, a better way to go would be with a dessert table filled with smaller-bites.
We’ll have several varieties of cookies, made en masse, along with truffles and caramel corn. Also hitting the table will be a sweet Chex Mix (and no, I am not just saying that).
I scoured the many fabulous recipes for Chex Mix, picking out ones that sound like they could be a good fit. Snickerdoodle Chex Mix popped up early in the search. The cinnamon-sugar goodness of Snickerdoodles sounds amazing in Chex form.
Another great option is Chocolate Malt-Cherry Chex Mix – a fabulous combination that I think would be a holiday hit.
Of course, I adore Muddy Buddies, which is a rich chocolate-peanut butter Chex Mix and absolutely craveworthy.
But ultimately, I settled on a variety that I saw here on Tablespoon recently: Reindeer Feed. It’s a Chex Mix that’s bathed in white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy. I think it will be adorable in little green pails around the dessert table.
